About:

Suman Sarawgi started her dance training from the age of six. She went under rigorous training with Smt. Priti Patel and Smt. Sruti Banerjee. She specializes in all four aspects of classical Manipuri Dance i.e. Lai- Haraoba, Thang-Ta, Sankirtana and Rasleela. She also received training in dance movement Therapy at British council from Janet Kaylo and Lawrence Higgins from Laban Centre of Dance Uk. She has done extended workshops in traditional dance as well as modern dance under Ferenza Guiddi UK, Michael Cassanova.

At present, she works with hearing-impaired children at the Oral School for the Deaf in Kolkata and at Kolkata Sanved she is training the dancers to be the future Dance Therapists. Dance/movement therapy, with its unique emphasis on nonverbal communication in assessment and treatment, is presented as an innovative therapeutic approach to address the comprehensive needs of these children and adolescents.
